International safety standards stipulate that emergency showers and eyewashes must be used for at least 15 minutes to ensure that hazardous substances are rinsed out reliably. However, cold water can cause those affected to stop rinsing early – whether due to hypothermia or discomfort.
That is why the European standard EN 15154 recommends a temperature range between 15 °C and 37 °C (ideally 20 °C – 25 °C) and the American ANSI standard Z358.1 (16 °C – 38 °C) even makes a controlled water temperature mandatory.
Haws offers various solutions for providing tepid water so that accident victims can rinse safely for the prescribed 15 minutes – without risking hypothermia or scalding.
